INTERNATIONAL FOLK FESTIVAL:
With The Dances Of Our Ancestors
Since 2012, Ensemble Zvezditza has been the founder and main organizer of the International Folk Festival: With The Dances Of Our Ancestors in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria. The festival aims to preserve folklore and develop performative folk art and is kindly sponsored by Neochilm PLC, Dimitrovgrad Municipality, and Fond 13 Veka.
Within the 5 festival days during the 2nd week of June, folk dance ensembles from Bulgaria and abroad present joint concerts on stage at the central square in Dimitrovgrad and in the largest sports hall in the city. The festival also includes concerts in schools and social establishments, creative meetings between group directors and parties for participants, sightseeing trips and ceremonial planting of festival trees.

To date, international ensembles from Macedonia, Turkey, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, France, Romania, Greece, and Serbia have taken part in the event. Groups from near and far within Bulgaria have participated as well, representing Sofia, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Kazanlak, Stara Zagora, Sevlievo, Yambol, Sandanski, Pazardzhik, Nova Zagora, Pravets, and Blagoevgrad.
The International Folk Festival is accompanied by a Crafts Fair of traditional, folk crafts made by master craftspeople & artists from Bulgaria and abroad.

FESTIVAL PARTICIPATION CRITERIA:
- NO participation fee (the festival is not competitive)
- NO age limit, but children's groups are given preference
- Live orchestra
- 15-30 minute programs
